West End Festival 2017

By EMeyer 02 May 2017

Hi everyone,

The lovely folks over at the West End Festival office have been busy since last summer and have now announced the event programme for this summer's West End Festival.

Running from the 2nd June - 25th June 2017, this huge festival has been a regular fixture of the West End for many years, with theatre, live music and food featuring heavily in the event programme, and best of all, many of the events are FREE!

For example:

  • "The Big Sunday" - 11th June. This event takes over Kelvingrove park, with music, food and funfair rides.
  • Ashton Lane Street Party - 2nd June. Watch as the famous Ashton Lane is transformed into one long street of music, food and even face painting!
  • Gamelan Concert - 11th June. The Kibble Palace in the Botanics serve as the perfect setting for a concert from Glasgow's very own Indonesian band, playing both modern and old classics!

  • Dram! A little 90's & 80's twist - 11th June. Dram on Woodlands Road plays host to a cavalcade of 80's and 90's hits played acoustically. Dust off your embarrasing outfit from the age of Neon and shoulderpads and come along for some nostalgia.
  • Ten Writers Telling Lies - 8th June. Waterstone's on Byres Road will have some of Glasgow's best writers accompanied by musician Jim Burne sing out poetry in song form.

So put on your sunglasses, grab a cold drink and enjoy during the heat wave we are sure to get this summer (well, optimism is a good thing!).
