Get Involved with Glasgow Student Events

By CGordon 01 Sep 2021

At the University of Glasgow there are lots of opportunities to meet new people and try new things. This article will show you some great resources for finding out about events and activities for all students - from first years to postgrads and everyone in-between.

SRC Events

The Students' Representative Council have a great website where you can see lots of in-person and online events happening across the university, most of which are completely free.

From pub quizzes to panel discussions; volunteering opportunities to award ceremonies; society events to student elections - this is your one-stop shop for all events run by GUSRC and their many affiliated clubs, societies and student media groups.

Whether you're on campus and looking for ways to get involved, or just looking to dip in to some online activities, they have something for all students.

Living Support Events at Halls

If you stay in one of the UofG halls, your Living Support team will be hosting events throughout the year for you to meet new people, try new things, and experience what Glasgow has to offer.

They want you to make the residence your own and shape the activities that take place, so the team are always keen to know your ideas. They're there to host events that you'd like to see as well as support you to create your own socials for residents of the hall.

Keep an eye on your residence's social media and UofGLiving page for upcoming events.

Join a club or society

There are over 300 societies and 50 sports clubs at UofG. Joining a club is a great way to make new friends who have similar interests to you, as well as an opportunity to learn or practice a sport, hobby, or skill. They host taster sessions at the start of the semesters, but you can also find their details and get in touch with them via the Students' Representative Council and Glasgow University Sports Association websites.
