How close is the Hall to the University?

Wolfson is about a 50 min walk from the main campus and a 25 min bus ride into the city.

What is the emergency contact number?

The office telephone number is (0141) 330 3773.

Is there anyone available out of office hours?

After 5.30pm on Monday - Thursday and 5pm on Friday, there is Duty Warden and Night Security Officer available to help with any problems.

Are there medical facilities near the Hall?

The nearest Health Centre is located approximately 1.5 miles away.

What am I responsible for cleaning?

You are responsible for your own room and emptying your bin regularly. 

Does the residence have student cooking facilities?

We are a catered residence but there are small pantry kitchens in each block with a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. 

Are cooking utensils, crockery supplied?

No, you must bring your own if you intend to use the kitchen areas.

Can I bring my bike?

Yes, there are two bike sheds. Simply register your bike at the Hall Office and you will be given access details. 

You are responsible for making sure that your bicycle is adequately insured and secured. You can insure your bike as part of your Block Halls policy by going to http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/accommodation/parents/fees/insurance/

Is there a car park attached to the Hall?

Limited car parking is available at the hall. All cars should be registered at the Hall Office.

Is there internet/ WiFi in the room?

There is an internet connection point in every room. You will receive information regarding connection after your arrival. 

Can I bring my own TV?

Yes, but it must be fitted with a correctly rated fuse, correctly wired plug and a cable in good order. Students must obtain their own TV license http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk for more details

What is the surrounding area like?

Wolfson is set in lovely grounds and is next to the 'Garscube Sports Complex'. It is 20 mins away from Glasgow University and 30 mins away from the city centre. Local shops, bars and restaurants are all within 10 mins walk of the residence.

Do I need to take everything out of my room at Christmas and Easter Holidays?

No.

Can my friends stay overnight?



Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 outbreak we have been forced to suspend the overnight guest option in our residences. This will kept under review and will be reintroduced as soon as it is safe to do so.

What happens if I lose my keys?

You must let staff at reception know asap. Try to avoid carrying your keys with anything that would identify your address. A charge will be made for the replacement key.

What happens to my mail/parcel delivery?

On arrival you will be given a mail box key. When mail is sorted any parcels/letters too big to be posted through the mail box will be kept in the Office and a slip written out requesting that you pick up your post as soon as possible.

Anything else that would be useful for me to bring?

Warm clothing for the winter months.
